here in the time before dawn
I see the morning star
that shines so bright from afar
I try not to get diverted
by all the sales on cyber Monday
and remember what’s important
and who we really are


and when all the pings of bad news
start to bring me down
I turn the presence within
and get back to the peace
that redeems me again


And see there is a choice we make
with every breath we take
That help to create our own fate
by what we focus on each day


and I realize while I’m here
it’s important to put to work
the teachings that overcome hate and fear
and walk the talk and reject what’s not
and be grateful to God
for any light and love that appears
